How to Save on Fuel

Truck drivers in Oregon seem to skip the visit to the toilettes to save on fuel. Oregon police is dealing with a new problem: large number of full bottles of urine that are dumped along route 84. The assumed reason: Fuel price increase.

Garbage collectors reported that approximately 300 bottles were found along 25 miles strech of R-84, filled with urine. The suspicion fell on commercial truck drivers. An Oregon policemen said he was told by truck drivers that the high cost of fuel causes them to drive slower than usual and also to skip stops in rest areas to use the toilettes in order to minimize fuel consumption.

The result is the need to use bottles as toilettes, and some of the drivers would simply throw them out of the window along the way. This is especially true for a curved 3 miles segment of the road that requires slow and careful driving.

The policemen said at least 100 bottles were found along that part, but truck drivers denied they had anything to do with it, saying it’s disgusting and inappropriate conduct.

Surprisingly, the law in Oregon already defines the violation and sets penalty that ranges from a $250 fine to imprisonment. Oregon police decided that the situation is not severe enough to place ambushes and to catch the criminals, and in the meantime is satisfied with encouraging the drivers to keep the environment clean.
